The Osseo Education Center (OEC) is a special education program that serves young adults, ages 17-21 recieving special education services. Our students have a range of abilities and disabilities and need assistance in making the transition from school to life in the community. Students are referred to the OEC by their attendance area high school.
OEC program provides opportunities for students to expand their work and interpersonal skills, build self-esteem, and learn about self-acceptance and self-advocacy, as specified in the individual education plan (IEP).
The program focuses on three special education transition areas:
- Post-secondary education and training
- Independent living
OEC staff links students with community resources for the transition areas. Resources include secondary and post-secondary classes, rehabilitation services, social services, community cultural and recreational facilities.
